So I chose to work in pension administration for 3 years. During that time, I realized that accounting was really my true desire. So, while the experience in the pension and retirement industry has indeed served me well, and provided knowledge that has helped my clients and employers along the way, that was not my landing place.

While I was gaining that knowledge, I pursued additional college education to increase the accounting foundation that I needed to fully pursue my passion for accounting! Once I had amassed the necessary accounting credits, I sat for and passed the CPA exam. Following that accomplishment, I gained the accounting experience required to become a Certified Public Accountant, working in both large and local public accounting firms. As I worked in the public accounting sector, I gained much knowledge and expertise in all sizes of businesses, in many forms of business forms (ie, partnerships, corporations, sole proprietorships, S corporations), and in many geographic areas. I have experience with manufacturing, real estate, not for profit, film-making, estates and trusts. I have experience with corporations, partnerships, sole proprietors and S corporations.I have experience with sales taxes, property taxes and income taxes. I made the move to private industry, gaining experience with creating and improving a chart of accounts to maximize reporting efficiency and usefulness. I have managed personnel and implemented retirement plans, as well as managed and planned cash flows to meet business needs and to distribute profits to owners. I have prepared financial reports for investors and owners, to provide the knowledge and understanding necessary for making informed decisions.
